A Beautiful museum. The person in charge of the museum is very enthusiastic and you can tell that she loves her works, she make her best effort to answer any questions you might have and put that extra to make sure your visit is memorable.
We visited Saturday afternoon and found parking in front of the museum. I did not see a parking lot. The museum is very clean and cozy.
If you want to know more about this iconic artist and are in the area you must pay a visit.
For anyone who's interested in the Golden age of movies, this is a great day trip. There's a short movie (18 minutes) to get you started and then you can explore the many costumes, ephemera, and personal items from Gqrdener's life. Be sure to take advantage of the docent and ask a lot of questions, it will make your trip more memorable. I spent 2 hours but you could spend less or more depending on your level of interest.
When you 1st go in, there's a lady at the door who gives you loads of helpful info and then there's a 10 minute movie. Very helpful info before walking through the museum. There is a small fee but well worth it for all that is in there and all that you learn. Can't wait to go back!!
Very knowledgeable host at the small museum. Great theater room with large screen to watch a short biography of Ava Gardner. Lots of dresses and outfits from personal and professional life. A woman before her time for sure. Plan 1-1 1/2 hours.
Have wanted to visit for years.
My mother told me of this grand Love. My MoM was from Japan and loved movie magazines.
I was enthralled as a teenager.
Tony Bennett had just joined Ava and Frank in heaven.
I asked them to please welcome Tony to Heaven.
I shared a quiet moment to thank her for her influence that her Life and adventures made a difference for those who came after her.. that she is world recognized and still influences women and our daughters and on it goes.
Timeless.
A daughter of North Carolina .
Two dragonflies came to visit me during prayers.
Synchronicity .
Ava is ever in our hearts
This is absolutely worth a visit. A lovely and personal tribute to a screen legend. The docent is the daughter of one of the museum's founders and her time ans attention to my visit was much appreciated!
This is a wonderful and classy tribute to Ava Lavinia Gardner and everything she represented to her fans. I was personally thrilled to see the references and memorabilia related to Frank Sinatra (of course) but also Mickey Rooney, Artie Shaw and some of her friends and acquaintances like Earnest Hemingway and Howard Hughes etc... this place is well maintained, the hostess was very knowledgeable and friendly, it was very neat and clean and perfectly placed in her own small hometown! The price was very reasonable. It's an easy stop as it is right off I-95 and well marked plus a quarter-mile down the main street from the museum is the family gravesite where she is buried. Overall a very pleasant experience! 🥰👌🏻
I visited a while ago, it was interesting to learn about Ava Gardner. The museum was super informative and had many of her dresses and vintage items. I recommend going at least once.
